About me

Shirley thumb126 photo\This is me.  I am happily married with five children and a growing number of grandchildren.  icon smile photo\

I worked as Secretary/PA/Office Manager for many years and then became a fostercarer, specializing in the care of children between the ages of 5 days and 16 years.  Later I opened a residential Mother and Baby unit in my home, helping young Mums to bond with and care for their children.

As you can tell, I have spent a large part of my life caring for the young.  Now that I am at an age which could (by some) be considered positively ancient, I am turning my attention to helping others realize that growing old is not the end of the world.

I have discovered that many younger people are actually afraid of aging and, although I can understand why they might feel like that, the fact that they do makes me very sad.  A younger friend said to me the other day, “but what about the wrinkles, what about the varicose veins, what about the age-spots?” and she sounded quite unlike her normal cheery self.  Well, none of these things is a death sentence, and something can be done about all of them.

It is true that aging cannot be stopped in its tracks, but the effects of aging can be lessened and maybe even slowed.

As well as showing you how to take care of your aging body, especially your skin, I hope to demonstrate that there is also still a lot of fun to be had.  Old I may be, (in the eyes of some people), but I certainly don’t feel it, and I still have great joy in my life!

I hope you will spend a lot of time browsing these pages and finding in them something that will be of help to you.

Shirley Allen
